Josh Zabel, Director of Events
Josh moved to Kansas City in March of 2013 and joined the events team at the Kansas City Sports Commission. Currently in his role as Director of Events, Josh oversees the planning and operation of all the sports commission owned events, including the Kansas City Marathon and Kansas City Sports Commission Awards Banquet.
His lifelong affinity for sports led him to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Management from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse. While enrolled, Josh was a student-athlete for the Eagles, earning 2x All-American and 2x Academic All-American honors on the Men’s Wrestling team. Upon graduation, Josh continued his education at UW – La Crosse, earning his Master’s Degree in Sport Administration while also working as a Graduate Assistant Wrestling Coach. During this time, he also served as the Assistant Meet Director for the 2011 & 2012 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships.
Born and raised in Rochester, MN, Josh currently lives in Kansas City, MO with his yellow lab Mac and continues to coach wrestling at Park Hill High School.
