Message from President & CEO Kathy Nelson: Championship trophies…championship teams…championship venues…and championship people
We had lots to celebrate at our 43rd annual Kansas City Sports Commission Awards Banquet. On April 18, over 700 people celebrated our city of champions.
I think all of us would agree that there are no championships to celebrate without teammates.
We are fortunate to have great teams to work with at the Chiefs, Royals, Sporting KC and FC Kansas City, as well as our teammates at the city and county levels like Mayor Sly James, city manager Troy Schulte and Jackson County Executive Frank White and all of their staffs. And we would be lost without the team support from the Parks and Recreation, Police and Fire departments.
Events like the World Series parade and Relay the Way do not get done without our teammates like Keli O’Neill Wenzel and her team at O’Neill Marketing and Event Management, and Carolyn Watley, Kyle Vena, VML and others involved with the new Urban Youth Baseball Academy.
