Choosing Kansas City
Kansas City loves its sports. This passion goes well beyond cheering on the Chiefs and Sporting KC in the stands, or showing up by the hundreds of thousands to celebrate our World Champion Kansas City Royals. Year after year, major sporting events choose to come to KC, bringing local and visiting fans out with them.
So why is Kansas City such an attractive choice for these events? While our fantastic venues are impressive in their own right, dozens of cities can meet an organization’s facility requirements. It’s what happens around the event that makes this city special, and that’s the story Visit KC and the Kansas City Sports Commission work together to tell. We do things a little differently here…and that means an exciting experience for fans, visitors, and athletes.

In addition to the more than 25 tournaments and competitions that come into Kansas City each year, such as the Waddell & Reed Kansas City Marathon and the WIN for KC Triathlon presented by Garmin, the Sports Commission sponsors many other city events, including youth clinics, annual community and membership luncheons and community-sponsored athletic events. More info on these can be found here.
By promoting Kansas City sports locally and nationally, and by working to attract, retain and facilitate sports events here, the Sports Commission and Visit KC help realize the economic, social and community-building benefits of athletics. Go Team KC!
