KC Sports Commission helps local events with online registration

Along with the many events we own and operate, the Kansas City Sports Commission hosts online registration for approximately 150 events in the Kansas City area. These range from 5Ks to marathons, triathlons to camps! As a privately-funded nonprofit organization, the Kansas City Sports Commission is dedicated to serving our community. Kevin Gray Father’s Day Run hits the streets June 15
This Saturday, June 15, is the Kevin Gray Father’s Day 5K. This event is a celebration of Kevin Gray, former president of the Kansas City Sports Commission and Foundation, who lost his battle with cancer in 2011. The 5K will start by Sporting Park at 7:30 a.m. and will feature three of the premier sports venues of Kansas City. Click here to read the full story.
Buck O’Neil Baseball Clinic free for boys and girls 8-12
Boys and girls ages 8-12 have the opportunity to learn different baseball skills from Jonathan Krysa, former T-Bones baseball player. This free clinic will be on Saturday, June 22, at Cleveland Park (43rd and Cleveland) from 9-11 a.m. Each pre-registered participant will receive a free clinic t-shirt, lunch provided by Arvest Bank and one free ticket to that day’s Royals game against the Chicago White Sox.
Clinician Jonathan Krysa will lead the participants in the fundamentals of the game of baseball. Krysa was a T-Bones baseball player from 2003-2007. In 2003 Krysa started the first game in T-Bones’ history. He remains the T-Bones’ all-time leader in appearances (90), games started (79), shutouts, innings pitched (547) and strikeouts (445). Krysa also holds the top three single-season strikeout totals in T-Bones’ history. Before becoming a T-Bones baseball player, Krysa was drafted by the Astros in the 26th round in 2000.
Over 250 girls learned how to LIVE ACTIVE last week at the 11th Annual WIN for KC Camp WIN
Almost 190 campers, ages 9-12 were introduced to 16 different sports and fitness activities over four days at St. Teresa’s Academy June 3-6. The girls were divided into teams, led by over 50 high school girls that acted as their camp counselors and team captains. Each sport was taught by area coaches and instructors, including coaches from colleges and universities.
The girls were taught a variety of sports including: soccer, basketball, handball and lacrosse. The goal of Camp WIN is for every camper to walk away with a new found passion for a sport or fitness activity so they can continue to be active throughout their life. Click here to read the full story.

WIN for KC Women’s Triathlon in need of volunteers
Help us support some of the most amazing women in the Midwest as they compete during the WIN for KC Women’s Triathlon on July 27 at Smithville Lake. The triathlon utilizes over 200 volunteers and without the generous support of wonderful people, this event wouldn’t take place. There are several positions available:
- Assisting with packet pick-up
- Assisting with registration and packet pick-up day of event
- Bike Course Marshaling
- Finish Line Festival Support
- Green Team
