WIN for KC Youth Advisory Board busy in 2015

YAB-LuncheonThe WIN for KC Youth Advisory Board has kept very busy in recent months.  We started the year off strong in January with a presentation by Roy Kevin, an admissions officer from Rockhurst University.  He offered us tips on college resumes, applications and essays.  He also gave us insight into what admission departments look for in these documents.

In February we had the opportunity to attend the WIN for KC Women’s Sports Awards Celebration and assist with this inspiring event.  A fabulous committee within our board participated by writing letters to recruit state champs to attend the event, helped to design the event T-shirts, and directed the large number of state champsCamp WIN and luncheon attendees on the day of the event.  Many girls said that a highlight of the event for them was listening to keynote speaker Amy Van Dyken-Rouen.

Our March meeting provided us time to reflect upon what we thought worked at the WIN for KC Women’s Sports Awards Celebration.  We recognized how we can become more involved in supporting this event especially if we pool together our diverse strengths.  Our Youth Advisory Board is made-up of many talented young women from throughout the Kansas City metro area.  Next on our agenda is helping with two important events this summer: Camp WIN and The WIN for KC Triathlon.
