As a new component of the 2008 Tour of Missouri professional road cycling race, the Women’s Criterium will bring the thrill of professional women’s cycling to fans in the hours before the men finish on the Plaza in Kansas City. Held in conjunction with Stage One of the Tour of Missouri on Monday, September 8, the Women’s Criterium will consist of a field approximately 35 women riders competing (including Kansas City's own Kelly Benjamin) for more than $5,000 in prizes! Set as a category Professional 1, 2 race with a limit of eight riders per team, the Tour of Missouri Women’s Criterium will showcase some of the world's top professional women's cycling teams.
