Charities and Fundraising

As an individual, team or volunteer, you can raise funds for Gordon Parks Elementary School.  You must be a registered race participant or registered volunteer before you can fundraise.  Teams and individuals will receive prizes according to how much money they are able to raise for the charity including airline tickets courtesy of Midwest Airlines!  Other prizes include hotel stays, gift certificates and group parties.  Our goal is to raise $10,000 to help Gordon Parks purchase a classroom of computers and Smart Boards.

In Partnership with Bacchus Foundation benefiting Gordon Parks		Beneficiaries
Bacchus Foundation is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization made up of young professionals. Sponsoring and producing several signature events a year, Bacchus raises money for an annually selected beneficiary. This year's beneficiary is Arts Incubator, a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting emerging artists to establish self-sustaining careers in the arts.   Gordon Parks Elementary School MISSION is to: PROVIDE an academically enriched curriculum featuring first-hand experiences, active learning, and an added measure of art, music and physical education for children living in the urban core of Kansas City, Missouri; HELP children who would otherwise be at risk develop to their potential in a safe, loving and challenging environment; MODEL a community of services which develops respect for self and others, positive attitudes and feelings of hope; ESTABLISH strong ties between school and community while maintaining collaboration with St. Vincent's Family Center. Proceeds raised by the run will help purchase a classroom of computers and Smart Boards.

Competitive and Centipede Team Registration

To enter your team online (fast and easy!):

1. The team must designate a team captain. 
2. The captain must first register him/herself online (Choose the "Team Member" category on the form "Open or Corporate." 
3. The captain then must create a team name online.
4. The captain can now distribute the team name to other members so they may register online and join the team.
5. The teammates may now register and place themselves on the team by looking up the team name on the registration form. 

If your  teammates have already registed, they can click here to join a team.

Competitive Team Competition
A Competitive Team consists of 3 or more runners.  Prizes will be awarded to the three fastest teams, judged by the low total cumulative time for the first 3 finishers on each team (a "cross country" scoring format).

Centipede Team Competition
A Centipede Team consists of 3 or more attached runners.  Think up a theme and make costumes!  Cash awards of $100, $70, and $30 will be presented to the three most creative teams.  The fastest Centipede will be awarded $60.

Kids Fun Run

All children are invited to participate in the Fun Run at the conclusion of the 4-mile run (about 11:15 A.M.).  Participants will receive T-shirts.  In addition, all finishers will recieve a gift bag.  The starting line will be near the Start/Finish of the 4-mile run.  Distance varies by age group.

Volunteers

The race cannot go on without volunteers.  No experience necessary.  Call 816-268-4672 to volunteer or click here to sign up.   Volunteers receive a St. Pat's commemorative t-shirt, participate in the random drawings, and are welcome at the food tent.

General Information

Splits & Finish Time
Split times will be called at the one, two and three-mile marks.  Participants must move to the sidewalk after 90 minutes (11:30 A.M.).  This is a chip timed event.

Aid Stations
There will be an aid station at mile 2 and another at the finish.

11:15 A.M. (Approx.) - Fun Run for Kids

Parking
Parking available in the designated Westport area.  Please do not park along race path, vehicle will be towed.

Photographs
Thomas Photographic will be present to record your special moment as you finish.  You can review all St. Pat's photos online at www.thomasphotographic.com.  Be sure your bib number is visible on the front of your body.

The day of the race, Westport Merchants are giving the following specials:

• The Eclectic Stem will do a cash/carry congratulations bouquet for runners.
• Blayney's is hosting a Happy Runner's Hour starting at 3:00 pm with Blues Jam Session starting at 5:00 pm.
• Torre's Pizza and Dark Horse will have food and drink specials.
• Jerusalem Cafe is giving $5.00 off any order of $25 or more.  Their outside Gyro vendor will give a $1.00 off any order by a runner or volunteer.
• Kelly's will have Boulevard product specials.
• Joe's Pizza will offer a pizza and drink special. 
• Buzzard Beach will open at noon and will have .75 cent draws and $2.00 well drinks for runners and volunteers.  Doors open early for participants.

Awards will be presented at the corner of Westport Road and Pennsylvania Avenue at 11:30 A.M.
