Strollers Welcome
The Thanksgiving Day 5K & Family Stroll presented by Sprint is one of the few road events in Kansas City that will officially allow baby strollers to be pushed by walkers! However, running and jogging with strollers will not be allowed.

The Tom Murphy Fun Run for Kids, in memorial of a beloved and tragically departed member of the Kansas City community. Our organization has enjoyed great support and tremendous leadership over the years from Sprint associates. As an integral member of our Board/Executive Committee, Tom was also a dear friend of the Greater Kansas City Sports Commission and Foundation. He made significant contribution in helping define our organization's leading role in developing the plans for a new downtown arena beginning in 2001. Tom embraced our vision, and he encouraged us to push forward. He was also instrumental in our efforts to both retain the NABC, and develop the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame and College Basketball Experience. The Tom Murphy Fun Run for Kids will begin at approximately 10:00am (located on Satchel Paige Park Field at the southeast corner of the Sprint Campus).
Furthermore, in conjunction with the Fun Run, we are working to help raise money for the tuition scholarship fund in Tom's name, which will be awarded each year to help further the education of a youth at Rockhurst High School. Our non-profit organization will contribute $1,000 from the event to the Thomas E. Murphy III Scholarship Fund that is being administered by the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation. The scholarship will be awarded to individuals that exemplify Tom's best qualities and assist them in their pursuit of higher education.
We are working with "Friends of Tom Murphy" and have created an easy to use individual and team fundraising initiative.
Friends of Tom Murphy fundraising page to come.

Due to the nature and size of this event, several volunteers are needed to ensure this event runs correctly. Experienced or not, please help us make sure this year's event is as good as we can make it. We can't do it without you! To register as a volunteer to come.

The run/walk wraps around Sprint Parkway to Outlook Street where participants will head north on Outlook to 112th Street then west on 112th Street, and back south on Lamar to 115th Street. Walkers and runners will then turn east on 115th Street back to Outlook and turn south where they will head back around Sprint Parkway to the finish line. Aid stations will be located at the start, finish and along the course route.
Note No headsets, motorized vehicles, roller blades, bikes or dogs will be allowed on the course. Baby strollers and baby joggers will be allowed in the 5K walk only. Protection will be provided at all intersections by the Overland Park, KS police department and/or volunteers.

A prize TBA will be awarded to the top overall male and female for this year's event. Thank you to Sprint for thier continued support of our race and the spectacular prizes.
