The Heartland 39.3 Series is a challenge for all of the half marathon fanatics who love to run half marathons and who want to take on the challenge of participating in three area half marathons in four weeks! The Heartland 39.3 Series starts with Rock the Parkway Half Marathon in Kansas City, Missouri on April 14, continues with the Kansas Half Marathon in Lawrence, Kansas on April 22, and wraps up with the Running With the Cows Half Marathon on May 12 in Bucyrus, Kansas. Three great races in three distinct environments, all within 50 miles of each other!

about the heartland 39.3 series

KC Running Company, the race director for these events, created the Heartland 39.3 Series to showcase each of these great half marathons and to give half marathon fanatics a special challenge for 2012!

Those who take the challenge, and complete each of the three events, will receive special recognition, including a special medal in addition to the medal from each of the Series races. That's right, Series participants will end up with four medals (and these are nice medals!), three technical shirts and lots of great memories! Series participants will also be able to compete for cash prizes for top combined times for the three Heartland 39.3 Series events and all Series finishers will qualify for, or increase their standing in, the national Half Fanatics Club (www.halffanatics.com).

You can sign up for all three half marathon events at the same time where indicated above or below, or sign up for each event individually. Either way you qualify for the Heartland 39.3 Series beneifts once your complete all three 2012 events. We expect more than 5,000 individuals to participate in one or more of the Heartland 39.3 Series events, but only the heartiest half marathoners will complete all three! Be on of the few and take the challenge!

Rock the Parkway half marathon

The third annual Rock the Parkway Half Marathon, presented by Burns and McDonnell, takes place on scenic Ward Parkway in Kansas City. The flat and fast course, rated as a "best race course" in Kansas City, has helped a number of past participants get their PR in the half marathon. Live music and great food await the finishers of this event, the fastest growing half marathon in the Midwest!

Kansas half marathon

The Kansas Half Marathon is undergoing a facelift and past participants won't recognize all the changes to the course and to how smoothly everything will go for them from registration to the post race festivities! Presented by the Health Care Access Clinic in Lawrence, the event's course will feature the varied neighborhoods of Lawrence and will showcase this popular college town for all who participate.

Running with the cows half marathon

The third annual Running With the Cows Half Marathon is a fun event through the pastures and cornfields of southern Johnson and northern Miami Countries in Kansas! Presented by Holy Rosary School, participants will enjoy the cowbells and great cow-inspired signs and course markers along the course, together with lots of post-race fun.

Heartland 39.3 series prize money

$3500 in prize money will be awarded to the top male and female finishers of the Heartland 39.3 Series. The prizes, set forth below, will be based on the total time for the competitors at the three Heartland 39.3 Series 2012 events and will be awarded at the Running With the Cows Half Marathon on May 12, 2012.
