Background

Project 5 for ALS was founded to follow the vision of Bob Willson, Rockhust graduate who lost his battle with ALS in 2010.  ALS afflicts an estimated 350,000 people around the world. About 50 percent of ALS patients die within three years of their first symptoms. For more information about Project 5 for ALS or to make a donation, please visit www.project5forals.org

Mission of the Project 5 for ALS organization: The Mission of Project 5 for ALS is to help people living with ALS by funding collaborative, translation research, through effective partnerships with academic institution, industry and philanthropic organizations. To fast-track treatments for a cure.

“You can give up or you can keep going. I have an obligation to teach my kids that when something bad happens to you, you need to be tough and go as long as you can and as hard as you can,” Willson said. “This disease is solvable. I probably won’t make it to the finish line, but we will win against ALS someday."
