nelson hopkins jr. memorial

The 3rd annual 5K race, hosted by the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity and Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority, will be in honor of Nelson E. Hopkins Junior. All money raised will be donated to the scholarship fund in his name. The scholarship fund was founded after Nelson was a victim of a senseless murder near Rockhurst University in the fall of 2009. Nelson was shot and killed as he walked home with his college application in his pocket. His dream of going to college was shattered, but the Nelson E. Hopkins Jr. Memorial Scholarship fund offers hope to aspiring students just like Nelson by helping to provide annual scholarships to students at the Alta Vista Charter School in Kansas City, MO.
