In the Northland, more than 3,900 children are at risk of going hungry over the weekends. Northland Childhood Hunger Initiative Fund & Harvesters have partnered to provide BackSnack, a backpack filled with nutritious, child-friendly food for these children to take home at the end of the week.
An independent evaluation by the Midwest Center of Nonprofit Leadership at UMKC found that 18% of children participating in the BackSnack program showed improved grades in English, social studies and science. Schools report discipline incidents are cut in half. Thirty four percent of parents say their child’s health has improved since participating in the program.
It costs just $250 to feed one child for one school year.
Currently, we are serving 2,800 children through the program. Your participation in this run will help us feed more kids to ensure no child in our community goes without.

The race starts at 8:00 am at the Town Square in the Zona Rosa Shopping Center (I-29 & Barry Road) in Kansas City, MO. Pre-registrants can pick up their packets at Zona Rosa Guest Relations from 4-7pm on Friday, October 12th or 10am to 2pm on Saturday, October 13th. Race Day registrants go to Town Square. Packets will include t-shirts, race number and race information.

Race Categories:

Age Groups: 6-12, 13-18, 19-29, 30-39,40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+

5K Run: This is a 3.1 mile course through Zona Rosa that is open to all runners. Times will be recorded with awards given to the top three runners in each category. Awards are also given to male and female overall winners over 40 and under 40.
Animals are not allowed.

5K Walk: This is a 3.1 mile course through Zona Rosa that is open to all walkers. Times will not be recorded, but there will be a clock to acknowledge finish times. No awards will be presented. Animals are not allowed
