Erek is(was) a phenomenal boy, full of life, smart, beautiful & at the time my only child. He was fine on a Thursday, the very next day he began to have flu like symptoms in the afternoon. By the time Saturday morning rolled around and he was taken to the hospital it was too late, the disease had moved through his body & it was too late. 12 hours...that was all it took for this awful disease to take Erek away from me at the early age of 7. I share part of my story so that you join us in spreading awareness and help raise money to find a cure! Please take more time to  hug your kids a little longer & tighter, leave the laundry & play with your babies, it will be there when you get done. Don't take them for granted. Donations

This year Erek's Run will be making a donation to a meningitis foundation to help spread awareness and promote prevention by vaccination. We are also excited about our new partnership with Kansas City Kansas Community College and will be donating a book scholarship to an incoming freshman for fall of 2013. We do this in memory of Erek as he would be starting his freshman year in college as well.
