Kameryn Furman Announced as Hallmark Cards Leadership Award Honoree For the 2024 Women’s Sports Awards

KANSAS CITY, MO (January 9, 2024) – Today, WIN for KC announced Kameryn Furman would be the recipient of the Hallmark Cards Leadership Award at the 2024 Women’s Sports Awards presented by Burns & McDonnell. The annual awards program is WIN for KC’s biggest fundraiser and the largest luncheon in the country celebrating National Girls and Women in Sports Day.

Through Kameryn Furman’s leadership skills, synchronized ice skating has become a lifetime sport for athletes in the Kansas City area. Kameryn’s ability to create a rewarding environment with coaching that inspires her athletes has allowed KC MOMENTUM (formerly KC Illusion) to grow from just dozens of athletes five years ago to 98 members strong this year. Over the past two  seasons, Kameryn’s adult and masters teams qualified for the U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships and the masters team became National Medalists for the first time in program history.

“One of the most rewarding parts of being a coach is introducing girls and women to the sport of synchronized ice skating,” says Furman. “The community we’ve built is comprised of talented, passionate athletes and I’m constantly amazed at their determination and drive.”

The 2024 WIN for KC Women’s Sports Awards, which takes place in the historic Municipal Auditorium, kicks off by honoring local 2023 female high school state champions with their celebratory march across the stage. Then, throughout the luncheon, event attendees learn about the six honorees in the following categories: Children’s Mercy Kansas City Rising Star Award, Lockton Courage Award, Kissick Construction Game Changer Award, UMBFC Charitable Foundation Lifetime Sportswoman Award, Hallmark Cards Leadership Award and Forvis BE BOLD Award. Finally, the keynote speaker delivers an electrifying speech reflective of her challenges and triumphs in the world of sports.

“Kameryn’s leadership is not only illustrated by the success of KC MOMENTUM, but also by how the sport has grown in the Kansas City area,” says Andrea Kimball, Sporting KC Vice President and General Counsel, as well as Chair for the WIN Advisory Board. “Our region benefits from interest and participation in a diverse array of sports. Kameryn’s work showcases the physical, emotional and mental benefits of sports at every age, making her a true leader in our community.”

The 2024 Women’s Sports Awards presented by Burns & McDonnell will be on Tuesday, January 30th. For more information, please clickhere.
