KANSAS CITY, MO (June 9, 2026) – The 53rd annual Hospital Hill Run returned in full stride last month, bringing together thousands of runners, volunteers, and supporters for another memorable race weekend. As Kansas City’s oldest road race, the event continues to showcase the strength and spirit of our community. A key part of that success is the support of our valued sponsors. Over the last three years, HDR has joined Hospital Hill Run as a Gold Sponsor. Read below to learn what sponsoring the event meant to their team and what makes Hospital Hill Run such a special Kansas City tradition.
“HDR has sponsored HH for the past 3 years and it has been an exciting experience for all involved. From working aid stations, to helping with packet pickup, and even running the 5k, 10k, or half marathon, our team has truly enjoyed the experience. HDR is proud to be a part of this wonderful community and anything we can do to help support this event and the money it raises for such great causes in KC means a lot to our staff and our leadership.”
- Chad Hall, Area Transportation Business Group Director and Half Marathon participant
What made HDR want to be a sponsor of the Hospital Hill Run?
At HDR, we love to invest in our local communities, and we’re always looking for ways to get involved. The Hospital Hill Run is near and dear to us professionally and personally – as the number one healthcare architecture firm in the U.S., HDR is proud to work with Children's Mercy and its hospital hill partners. Many of our Kansas City employees are avid runners who participate in races around the metro area and compete in Corporate Challenge activities all year, and we love supporting this great event each May.
Is Health & Wellness a big focus for HDR and your employees?
Absolutely! At HDR, our Wellness Program is committed to supporting whole health through multidimensional wellness initiatives that inspire employees to maintain or improve their overall well-being. We use an online platform to track individual goals, learn about topics surrounding health, and sponsor group challenges. We’re also participants in the KC Corporate Challenge each year which encourages team-building and healthy competition across the city.
There are many different engineering, architecture, environmental, and construction services options for people around the Kansas City area. What would you like people to know about HDR in terms of what sets you apart?
HDR is the largest 100% employee-owned company in the A/E industry and is continually growing in the KC area. We are involved with many standout projects across business groups, from the KC Streetcar, to Children’s Mercy Hospital, to the De Soto Water Treatment Plant Improvements, and Environmental projects like the MoDOT Statewide Wildlife Crossing Program. Not only that, but our employees also volunteer for great organizations like Harvesters, KC Community Gardens, and more!
