VOLUNTEER ROLES

For a successful race, we need a large number of volunteers and would love for you to join us! You or your group will receive custom free race shirts and a bunch of service hours for school, work, or church. In addition, a portion of the race’s proceeds will be donated to Children Mercy’s ‘I Love Children’s Mercy Fund’.

This is an excellent opportunity to volunteer and support the Kansas City community all in the same morning, so we’d love your help. Assignment descriptions are below, and you can register for a shift here. If you have any questions, contact us at  info@sportkc.org. Thank you for your time and support!

Aid Stations: Great spots for groups. Show off your group pride with a theme, signs, music or costumes. Make it yours and make it fun! Duties include:

  • Setting up the station.

  • Filling and stacking cups with water and Gatorade.

  • Handing beverages to athletes.

  • Cleaning up the area.

Finish Line Support: This is another great spot for groups, individuals, and families to greet participants as they cross the finish line with food, water, and medals.

Start Line Support: Help runners start the race right by assisting them to the starting area.

Gear Check: Greet runners and assist with overseeing gear check on race day.

Floater: Help with whatever shifts need extra attention on race day. Flexibility and patience are needed as you will receive your assignment upon arrival Saturday morning.

Expo Setup: On the Thursday before the race, help the Hospital Hill Run team organize merchandise, volunteer shirts, athlete bibs, gifts, and more for the Health and Fitness Expo.

Packet Pickup: On the Friday before the race, you will welcome athletes to the Health and Fitness Expo, look up, and hand out bib numbers plus t-shirts at packet pickup. Volunteers need to be comfortable using technology, multi-tasking, and interacting with our athletes.

Merchandise: Help sell Hospital Hill Run merchandise during the Health and Fitness Expo. Volunteers need to be comfortable with using technology, multi-tasking, and interacting with our athletes.
